The research, conducted by YouGov, interviewed more than 3,500 adults across the UK and found overwhelming public belief that UK food was safe, traceable and of good quality.

The Red Tractor food insurance program which commissioned the survey said one of the main reasons for public confidence in British food was an implicit confidence in the regulatory and insurance systems that exist in the UK. United.

Half of those polled cited high standards and regulations as the reason they trusted UK-produced food. Almost three-quarters of those polled also felt that inspection and insurance programs such as Red Tractor and Quality Meat Scotland played a more important role than the government in ensuring that British food was safe and of good quality.

Significantly, the survey found that while 84 percent of UK consumers trust food from Britain, levels of trust in food from outside the UK vary widely.

Food from Ireland and New Zealand exceeded confidence levels for imported food, while major EU food producers such as Sweden, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Countries – Stockings were also well regarded.

In contrast, only 25% of Britons trusted food from the United States and only 11% trusted food from China – but, interestingly, Commonwealth countries such as Australia and Canada are lagging behind. compared to several of the main food producing countries in the EU.

The survey also found that more than twice as many people trusted food purchased from stores – and especially fresh, locally produced ingredients – than take-out and deliveries.

“The most important finding from this report is not just that most people trust the food they buy in the UK. That’s why, ”said Christine Tacon, President of Red Tractor, said:

“By far the main reason people trust food here in the UK is the strength of our food standards and independent insurance programs,” she said.
